My Trip to New York – A dream come true

My Trip to New York – A dream come true
On the morning of the 20th of November 2011, I had just finished packing my clothes and my luggage and was making my way to Chamari's place with two of my friends, Khalid and Anas. Upon our arrival I made breakfast and we had a chat until dinnertime after which we made our way to the Union Station, where we had to wait for around 2 hours for the arrival of the remainder of my friends from Gallaudet University. Finally Mohammed and the others arrived, and after listening to his advise on how we were to stick together throughout our journey, we started on our 5 hour trip to New York. Khalid and I took care of Chamari and Pratiksha throughout our journey. We arrived in New York on the 21st of November around 4.55am. Looking out from the window next to my seat, I was absorbed by the skyline of New York city. To my surprise I saw that it consisted of some of the oldest buildings as well as the modern ones, and the tallest of them were brightly light. We got down at Penn Station and went looking for the hotel we planned to stay in. After checking in and storing our luggage in a lock box, we lounged in the lobby for a few minutes. We then set out by bus to explore the city and to see the Statue of Liberty, a very beautiful landmark. Starting to feel tired and hungry we made our way back to the hotel where we fell into our beds after a good dinner. We had enjoyed the first day of our visit. The morning of the 22nd of November I woke up earlier than my friends and, after taking a wash, changed into my clothes for the day and waited patiently in bed for the others. Once they had awakened, we began to plan our day. Here we had an argument since Pratiksha wanted to go visit her aunt and the rest of us wanted to go explore the city. We knew that she was worried about her aunt, so after a while we decided to break into two groups. Mohammed and the others were to go to Times Square, while Khalid, Pratiksha, Chamari and myself were to set out looking for Pratiksha's aunt's place, our group being led by me. After looking for a while going hitherto throughout the city by bus, we were unable to seek out the place and the raining wasn't helping. We tried to point out to Pratiksha that it was hopeless and that we should make use of the time to enjoy our trip and see the rest of the city, but she was stubborn. So after an argument in which she was angrily trying to get us to keep looking, we made it clear we disliked her plan and went back to exploring and to look through the numerous stores. Chamari wanted to buy some new clothes for me that were expensive, but I insisted that I buy them myself. By that time we had tired and we made our way back. We dined at the Indian restaurant nearby that night, and went back to our hotel where we met the rest of our friends. Anas told us that his group had a really enjoyable day at Times Square and I felt that my day had been an unfortunate one as I went to bed. I woke up on the 23rd of November feeling good nevertheless, and packed my luggage for the journey home after my morning wash. After having breakfast, we headed to Penn Station. Having time before our bus would arrive, we wandered around the station taking photographs of New York and looking through the buildings around it. We went to a shopping mall as well and did some shopping since the clothes were on offer for cheap prices. We came back to the station just after 11.00am, where we got back on the 5 hour bus that would take us away from New York back to Washington D.C. Khalid and I dropped Chamari and Pratiksha back at their apartment and made our way back home. That night I had a chat with my mother on Skype at my apartment and finally, feeling very tired, I went to sleep.

I'm waiting to go to Gallaudet University

Gallaudet University is for the people who are hearing impaired. The deaf people of our world study there and after that they can also become the professionals. Students of the university are hearing for all the success because they have been improving their knowledge. I want to study there. I understood the value of it. It's most important and it has good facilities. America is a developed country. I hope that I will be getting a degree. My mother helped me for this. I want to be a undergraduate. That is what I want to do in future. My two friends from Kandy who are deaf persons left to America to become graduates. They will do their ACT test on May. I asked them and they said that Gallaudet University is great, it is a large place. It has a lot of deaf undergraduates and they like the place so much. If i will get admitted to it, i much do the SAT or ACT test. I think I have improved an English language. My mother thinks that I want to join ELI. We sent my application to ELI of the university. I'm sure I will attend to it next year. I can also do what i like to study. Mrs. Shamali advised me about it. My mother told me that my father guess I'll soon become an undergraduate. My father said that I must read many English books. Thank you for wishing me for all the success.
